Yesterday’s very happy headlines from Colombia are cause for celebration, nevertheless, we cannot forget about the ongoing hostage plights around the world that may get overshadowed by the day’s news. In the last 24 hours, for example:
- Hamas announced that kidnapped Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit will remain in captivity until the blockade of Gaza comes to an end.
- Reports surface that the Taliban has kidnapped a large number of Pakistani security forces in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas.
- A Ugandan journalist was abducted at a hotel in Kampala, allegedly targeted because of his profession.
- Nigerian police claim to have nabbed a gang of kidnappers accused of taking expatriate workers hostage.
